April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball athletes to win medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal over the next couple of days. Ross hopes to win the Olympic the first medal of gold but she's also hoping to earn greater. There is a chance that it is her last chance at winning, as she's 39 old. Nevertheless, she remains convinced of winning top awards. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even playing well I'm sure we'll be able to win gold." It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross born in 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in sports at the Newport Harbor High School. Ross's athletic endeavors began at Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of activities. Being a pre-athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. But she stood out during this game. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball, according to her bio at the college. She was named one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles from 2017. But, Ross played a significant role on the beach volleyball circuit before the pairing. It's true that she has won numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. From 2007 to 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy was Ross's teammate at the World Championships in 2009. This duo went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team which won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, edged them out to win the gold medal. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Following high school, and for a few years before she hit the sand as a pro Ross balled out with the Trojans of USC as a collegiate. Her experience at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman and NCAA Freshman Of The Year. She was also named an All-American. She also helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them win consecutive championships. She was a great player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. However, she keeps her parent close to his heart. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her, both at and off the beaches.
